The mission of the Department of Law is to serve the citizens of the State of Georgia by providing legal representation of the highest quality to the agencies, officers, and employees of state government and by honorably and vigorously carrying out the constitutional and statutory responsibilities of the Attorney General. The Department of Law is organized into the Executive Office, five legal divisions, four specialty units, and an operations division. The position filled through this announcement will serve in the Business and Finance Section of the Commercial Transactions and Litigation Division.
Job Summary
Attorneys in this section serve as counsel for matters involving the business, financial, and property interests of the state government. Attorney will be responsible for general business litigation, including breach-of-contract actions and appeals, state procurements, the Hospital Acquisition Act, bond proceedings and lower judicatory appeals. Attorneys in this section are responsible for general representation of the Department of Administrative Services, the Georgia Lottery Corporation, the Department of Community Affairs, the State Auditor, and various State authorities. Some occasional travel may be required in this position.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited law school and a member of the Georgia Bar
