Assistant Biologist

Johnson Service Group is looking for an Assistant Biologist for our client in San Jose. 

Responsibilities:

• Conduct ecological investigations, including pre-activity biological surveys and on-site monitoring of native fish, wildlife, plants, and special-status species.
• Document and report survey findings and apply professional judgment when implementing programmatic permits.
• Identify potential biological concerns and coordinate with requesters and teams within the Watersheds Division.
• Collect and document field data and assist with scientific studies and biological assessments.
• Navigate and interpret maps while working in a variety of outdoor environments and rugged terrain.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Wildlife Management, Fisheries Science, Environmental Science, or a related life science/environmental field.
• Experience conducting field biology studies and collecting scientific data.
• Knowledge of local flora and fauna, including special-status species in Santa Clara County and bird nests.
• Ability to work outdoors in rugged terrain and varying conditions.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to read, navigate, and interpret maps.
• Valid driver’s license.

Pay rate $43.60 contract
