Essence of Position

To provide a pleasant and efficient experience while assisting associates with payroll and registration, and by actively engaging guests ensuring unparalleled hospitality and professional service.

Assistant Bookkeepers are responsible for all tasks and expectations in the absence of the Bookkeeper. Assistant Bookkeepers will work primarily on weekends and holidays.

Tasks of Position

The following are core and essential responsibilities of this position. Associates are responsible for completing any and all duties assigned as required for the successful operation of our business. All associates are required to perform their job duties in a manner which upholds the integrity and honesty of our company.

Reporting for assigned shifts on time, and on a regular basis, capable of communicating clearly and demonstrating suitable physical abilities to safety perform assigned tasks and duties, prepared to provide excellent service.
Promoting sales and exceptional service though active discussions with guests and assisting them when on the sales floor.
Understanding and capable of performing the following:
Verifying, reconciling, and/or reporting cashiers' tills, store safe, daily sales
Preparing daily deposit for bank, daily cash report, and checker reconciliation report
Assisting associates with required registration documents, uniforms, and time clock
Auditing, correcting, and updating payroll punch detail and other payroll records
Recording and maintaining stores accounts receivable transactions
Maintaining store records according to the company records retention policies
Ordering uniforms, office supplies, postage stamps, and coin
Overseeing, scheduling and recording associate training in HR system.
Checking electronic mail system regularly and distributing messages as needed
Using "This One's On Us" cards to "Make Our Guests Crazy About Us!"
Operating (at minimum) the following equipment in a correct and safe manner: com-line, phone, fax machine, calculator, lotto machine, printer(s), copy machine, utilities machine, general office tools, computer, and software including: Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and the ability to learn any other software required to fully function as a Bookkeeper.
Finding a way to make our guests happy.
Ensuring all work performed in the department is completed in accordance with work rules, company policies, and any applicable laws.
Participating actively in the stores accident reduction plan including: store evacuation plan, robbery policy, and office ergonomics.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty sufficiently.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Background in retail accounting is preferred.

Language Skills

Reads, analyzes, and interprets general business documents. Writes reports and business correspondences. Communicates effectively and pleasantly with all guests, vendors, and associates, under all circumstances.

Mathematical Skills

Performs mathematical skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Performs mathematical skills using units of American money and weight measurement, volume.

Reasoning Ability

Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deals with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Qualifications

If required to back-up in Guest Services or checking must meet the state minimum requirement to sell tobacco and/or alcohol.

Physical Demands & Safety Expectations

Most positions within Yoke's require physical effort to varying degrees. As such, associates are expected to be mindful of practicing Yoke's safety standards at all times. This may include using personal protective equipment when and where required, understanding ergonomic safety, chemical hazards, safe lifting techniques, lockout/tag out procedures, and emergency protocol. All associates are required to report accidents within 24 hours.
