Position Summary:
The Assistant Box Office Manager will support the overall operations of the box office and ensure efficient, customer-focused service in all aspects of ticket sales and guest experience at PPG Paints Arena. This role assists in supervising box office staff, managing ticketing systems, handling escalated customer concerns, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The Assistant Box Office Manager must be able to confidently interact with internal teams such as Finance, Marketing, Premium Seating, Group Sales, and Operations while also having communication with our Ticketmaster team and Event Promoters.
This role pays an annual salary of $58,240

About the Venue:
As a leading entertainment venue, PPG Paints Arena is the regional epicenter for athletic events, concerts, and family shows in Western Pennsylvania and home to the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Box Office Manager in the daily operations of the box office, including opening and closing procedures.
- Assist with the supervision and scheduling of the part-time union ticket sellers.
- Oversee ticket sales, exchanges, refunds, and will-call distribution using Ticketmaster (TM1, Host, Archtics).
- Monitor ticket inventory, pricing, and seating charts; communicate with other departments on updates and event changes.
- Manage internal ticketing processing and procedures.
- Assist with preparing and reconciling daily sales reports and financial records.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all events, policies, and promotions.
- Oversee aspects of Ticketmaster equipment (Computers and Scanners), which include setup, maintenance, and upgrades.
- Responsible for day-of-show box office support for the venue, promoter, and customers.
- Support at events on show days as needed.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships to support internal departments with integration of ticketing processes to ensure efficiency across multiple teams.
- Help create and enforce box office policies and procedures.
- Ensure excellent customer service is delivered to patrons both in-person and over the phone/email.
- Troubleshoot ticketing or access issues and handle escalated customer service concerns.
- Other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of related work experience. Experience in a Box Office/Entertainment Venue preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sports Management, Marketing, or other related field preferred.
- Experience with Ticketmaster or any other ticketing platforms preferred.
- Ability to engage in positive interaction with employees and industry contacts, organize, problem solve, while prioritizing time management and multitasking in a high-pressure environment
- Competitive, self-motivated, and creative-thinking skills and a team-first attitude.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including email etiquette.
- High level of demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and ability to maintain sensitive information.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) and Google Docs.
- Ability to work well within a team environment and be comfortable completing tasks independently.
- Must be adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Extremely organized and detail-oriented, resourceful, quick learner, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Frequent bending, lifting heavy objects, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building including inclines and stairs
