St. Petersburg Catholic High School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Varsity Boys Soccer Assistant Coach to join our athletics program. The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Boys Soccer Coach to develop student-athletes both on and off the field while contributing to a positive, competitive, and Christ-centered team culture.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of soccer fundamentals, player development, team strategy, and high school athletics. This individual should serve as a positive role model who demonstrates professionalism, integrity, sportsmanship, and a commitment to the mission and values of St. Petersburg Catholic High School.
Essential Responsibilities
Assist the Head Coach with all aspects of the varsity boys soccer program.
Help plan and conduct effective practices, training sessions, and skill-development activities.
Assist with game preparation, scouting, strategy, and in-game coaching.
Provide individualized instruction and feedback to student-athletes.
Help develop technical, tactical, physical, and mental aspects of student-athlete performance.
Promote teamwork, discipline, accountability, sportsmanship, and leadership.
Support the Head Coach in establishing and maintaining team standards and expectations.
Assist with equipment, uniforms, field preparation, and other day-to-day program operations.
Maintain appropriate and professional communication with student-athletes, parents, school personnel, and opposing teams.
Follow all St. Petersburg Catholic High School, Diocese of St. Petersburg, FHSAA, and applicable athletic department policies and procedures.
Maintain appropriate boundaries and communication practices with student-athletes in accordance with school and athletic department policies.
Attend practices, games, team events, meetings, and other required program activities.
Assist with the development of a positive team culture consistent with the school's Catholic mission.
Serve as a positive representative of St. Petersburg Catholic High School at all practices, competitions, and school-sponsored events.
Qualifications
Previous soccer coaching experience preferred; high school, club, collegiate, or professional experience is beneficial.
Strong knowledge of soccer fundamentals, tactics, and player development.
Ability to effectively communicate and work with high school-aged student-athletes.
Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach and athletic department.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Commitment to student-athlete development and academic success.
Commitment to the mission, values, and Catholic identity of St. Petersburg Catholic High School.
Must be able to successfully complete all required school, Diocese, and FHSAA requirements, including background screening and required athletic/coaching certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Playing or coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, club, or professional level.
Experience working with competitive varsity-level soccer programs.
Relevant coaching certifications or licenses.
Experience with player evaluation, scouting, video analysis, or tactical planning.
