WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Assistant Branch Manager supports the Branch Manager in overseeing the branch's operations, ensuring superior customer service, and contributing to the achievement of branch deposit and loan goals. This position works closely with the Branch Manager to attain branch/bank established goals. You will assume total responsibility for the branch in the absence of the branch manager. This role requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to community involvement, and adherence to the bank's core values.

Responsibilities:
- Opens new accounts and refers customers to other lines of business as needed.
- ATM balancing and replenishment.
- Ensures the team is trained and competent in explaining all products and services offered. Responsible for daily operations of retail branch office.
- Ensures procedures are followed or makes authorized exceptions to procedure/policy to maintain optimal branch performance in service quality, accuracy, transactions, or decisions requiring a higher level of authority for approval or signature within the branch.
- Must obtain NMLS certificate credentials as soon as possible to be able to discuss and process loan applications; interviews loan applicants, gather necessary documentation, forwards to the loan department and follow up with customers as needed. Assists in the completion of loan settlements and submits completed loan package to the loan department.
- Has a complete understanding of all products sold in the retail branches and has familiarity with products sold by other business lines. Maintains knowledge of credit standards and loan processing procedures for retail and small business loans.
Leadership
- Sets a tone of superior customer service in your branch and in coordination with the Branch Manager coaches other branch personnel to the same standard.
- Assists the Branch Manager in ensuring that the branch is adequately staffed and that all personnel are trained in operational and branch procedures. Assists with employee scheduling and completing employee weekly timesheet for payroll. Minimizes branch turnover and overtime.
- In coordination with the Branch Manager, supervises and coaches assigned branch staff to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities to maximize performance potential to support Harford Bank's sales processes. Provides regular feedback to staff on progress. Documents performance and completes performance evaluations in a timely manner.
- Participates in the interview process for potential new hires.
- Routinely and consistently provides guidance and training to branch team.
- Actively contributes to employee management and training.
- Reviews management reports to determine productivity and/or problem areas and ensures that corrective action is taken.
- In conjunction with the Branch Manager evaluates performance and recommends personnel actions such as promotions transfers, salary increases, schedule changes and terminations
- High School diploma or GED is required. Associate's degree preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 3 years of retail banking experience, to include at least 1 year of platform work.
- Prior supervisory/management experience is preferred.
- Minimum 1 year in face-to-face customer service experience.
- Ability to train and lead others.
- Can maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Must be able to understand and follow regulations while delivering a superior customer experience.
- Customer focused service and sales skills.
- Understands consumer and small business banking solutions including lending.
- Strong overall knowledge of bank operations.
- NMLS Certified (transferable, or willing to get certified in role)
- Proficiency in banking software and transaction processing systems.
- Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance requirements.
