The Assistant Category Manager position is a key link between the franchise(s), suppliers, and purchasing department. Category Managers are responsible for heavy supplier contact and negotiation. This position is in support of those activities and is intended to be the step to becoming a Category Manager of pricing, cataloging, and sourcing of industrial fasteners and MRO products.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
College degree preferred or equivalent in experience.
Retail or wholesale merchandising experience, or a formal education in the area of category management.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
Excellent negotiation skills.
Excellent verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Computer literate. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to manage and juggle many changing priorities.
Experience in Oracle Cloud a plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Present a professional appearance and represent the company in an ethical manner.
Be able to consume and interpret large amounts of data
Work closely with other members of marketing, purchasing, and graphics.
Have a keen interest in growing sales and introducing related items to achieve sales goals
Must have some knowledge of product life cycles and a basic understanding of supply chain
Work closely with Graphics in maintaining monthly marketing publications and meeting all publication deadlines and proofing for accuracy.
Strive to make improvements in cost of goods, controlling expenses, improving technology and time management.
Be responsible for generating all documentation regarding product additions.
Maintain a professional and “can do” attitude to both internal and external employees and franchises.
Must be willing to accept additional responsibilities when called upon to do so.
OTHER DUTIES:
Other duties as assigned by the Category Manager, Including KPI’s and yearly goals.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to efficiently use a personal computer equipped with standard keyboard and mouse.
Ability to communicate in English to locate, read, and report information.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
