Position Overview:
Lead the interface between the Chief Engineering team and Product Release Center, Engine Systems, Software, and Controls teams. This role functions as a systems-level engineer with a strong technical background, supporting controller hardware across multiple vehicle programs. This is not a design release role, but requires prior DRE experience and deep understanding of control modules and electromechanical systems.
The Engineer will be responsible for system integration, application, and cross-functional coordination for controller hardware, with a focus on issue resolution, requirements development, and program execution support.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as controller hardware system owner at the application and integration level
Support multiple controller types including:
Engine Control Modules (ECM)
Electrified Vehicle Control Units (EVCU)
Transmission Control Modules (TCM/DTCM – limited scope)
Serve as primary interface across:
Design Release Engineers (DREs), COEs, SW/Controls teams, suppliers, validation teams, and program teams
Lead/support system-level issue resolution, including CQI and GIMS/S2IRRIUS activities
Support requirements development, PSK reporting, and program execution tracking
Coordinate electrical and communication integration across modules (CAN, EE architecture)
Review DRE design proposals and support system/interface DFMEA and DRBFM reviews
Support validation reviews (DRBTRs, DVC updates) and manage follow-up actions
Contribute to cost and timing inputs for new programs, minor changes, and MCAs
Support technical cost reduction and value optimization initiatives
Maintain and manage lessons learned documentation and ensure alignment with technical standards
Coordinate cross-functional teams to track action plans and ensure program milestones are met
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or related engineering field (Mechanical, Mechatronics acceptable with relevant experience)
5–10 years of experience in automotive engineering
Prior DRE experience (required as background, not role function)
Strong experience with control modules / controller hardware systems
Knowledge of electromechanical systems, sensors, and actuators
Experience with CAN communication protocols and EE architecture
Familiarity with automotive development processes (DFMEA, validation, issue resolution)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with software calibration or controls integration
Systems engineering or technical project leadership experience
Experience supporting multi-domain integration (hardware + software)
Master's degree (nice-to-have, not required)
Role Profile:
Mid-level engineer with strong technical depth
Systems thinker with ability to operate cross-functionally
Self-starter who can ramp up quickly with minimal training
Mix of technical and program coordination responsibilities
Additional Details:
100% onsite at CTC
Minimal design/CAD work (NX not required)
Contract role with potential for conversion to full-time
Open to candidates from adjacent industries (e.g., aerospace) if experienced with similar systems and able to ramp quickly
Must be authorized to work in the United States
