    Description

    SUMMARY:

    As the Engineering Manager, you'll assist in supervising all aspects of the building's equipment

    including preventative maintenance and repairs, monitoring the security and life safety systems in

    coordination with the Security team, assist in the administration of recruitment, training, scheduling,

    and payroll for all Engineering team members.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead maintenance of the building, rooms, fixtures, all property equipment, refrigeration,

    HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems.

    • Assists in developing and implementing plans to maintain property, equipment, grounds in

    good working order.

    • With the Director of Engineering, ensures the hotel follows all local, state and federal laws.
    • Conduct daily supervision of your team to make sure all employees are properly trained in

    all areas of the general mechanic functions, work assignments are executed to brand

    standards, and house calls are resolved and closed out in HOTSOS within expected time

    frames.

    • Responsible for maintaining professional relationships with all vendors, on-site partners,

    F&B, and residential counterparts to ensure that property needs are being met.

    • Ensures the shop is kept in good order, i.e. all equipment and work space in safe and clean

    condition.

    • Monitor the hotel's preventative maintenance program and assist in effectively planning,

    scheduling and evaluating preventative maintenance programs.

    • Conduct room inspections and identify repair needs.
    • Ensures all employees have the proper supplies and equipment.
    • Participate in all hiring decisions for the Engineering Department.
    • Hold team members accountable and carries out corrective action as necessary.
    • Maintains oversight of the outsourced Security operation at the hotel, ensuring adequate

    communication and follow ups are consistently occurring.

    • Ensure overall guest satisfaction in line with Kimpton's standards.
    • Performs any other job related duties as assigned.

    SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE WE'RE SEEKING:

    • Fire Safety Director Certification required.
    • Minimum of 2+ years related experience as an Engineering Supervisor at a full-service

    hotel.

    • Prior experience with building maintenance systems and processes required, preferably in

    a supervisory capacity.

    • Previous experience in Security, Life Safety or Loss Prevention preferred.
    • Flexible schedule, able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
    • Able to supervise and lead the work of others.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    Education and/or Experience: Minimum of 2+ years related experience as an Engineering

    Supervisor at a full-service hotel. Prior experience with building maintenance systems and

    processes required, preferably in a supervisory capacity. Required to have a Fire Safety Director

    Certification.

    Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally

    with other business departments, guests, and vendors. Ability to diplomatically deal with difficult

    situations and people, while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism.

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables

    in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions

    furnished in written, oral, report, or schedule form. Regularly exercise independent judgment and

    discretion about matters of significance.

    Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to

    bend, crouch, kneel, crawl, squat, climb ladders and stairs, balance, reach, twist, stretch, push, pull,

    handle (hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hand or hands), finger (picking, pinching, fine

    manipulation), stand, walk, see, hear, write and speak. The employee is frequently required to use

    a keyboard and dial. The employee is minimally required to collate/file and sit. The employee is

    constantly required to lift and/or move between 10-50lbs, frequently required to lift and/or move up

    to 75lbs, and occasionally required to lift and/or move 100+lbs. Specific vision abilities required by

    this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to

    produce detailed work, use reasoning skills, use written and verbal communication, have customer

    contact, handle multiple concurrent tasks, and constant interruptions. The employee is frequently

    required to use math skills. The employee is minimally required to give presentations.

    Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be moderately

    exposed to heat, odor, fumes, dampness, dirt, oil, grease, noise, vibrations, and will continuously

    use tools and equipment. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and

    sometimes in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious

    places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and at risk of electrical shock,

    and is required to operate hand tools.
