A 280-bed acute care hospital in West Palm Beach, FL — home to a 124-bed behavioral health unit, a 24-hour Emergency Department, Advanced Primary Certified Stroke Center, Orthopedic Institute, Critical Care Unit, and Interventional Vascular Suite — is seeking an Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) for Behavioral Health. The facility serves children, adolescents, adults, and seniors across a full continuum of mental health and wellness services and supports a medical staff of approximately 900 providers and 600 colleagues.

The role. Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer, the ACNO serves as an executive-level partner in managing nursing resources, leading strategic planning, and overseeing operational performance across assigned behavioral health patient care areas. The ACNO maintains accountability for quality and performance improvement initiatives — designing measures to track outcomes, ensuring thorough follow-up on patient complaints and occurrence reports, and driving corrective action for identified system-level problems. This leader conducts regular rounds with patients, families, staff, and physicians to sustain operational alignment and a strong care environment. On the people side, the ACNO builds nursing staff autonomy and engagement by collaborating with nurse educators on ongoing development and orientation, fostering close working relationships with physician colleagues and interdisciplinary teams, and serving as a preceptor for nursing students when called upon. The ACNO also partners with the CNO on nursing services budgeting, workforce planning, and cost-reduction efforts, with the explicit developmental goal of advancing toward a CNO role.

What we're looking for.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Master's degree in Nursing required
  • 5+ years of supervisory nursing experience required
  • 5+ years of direct behavioral health leadership experience in a hospital or inpatient patient care environment required; outpatient BH experience alone will not be considered
  • Current Unit Director-level title or above required
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice, or an active compact RN license, required in accordance with applicable law and regulation

Schedule. Full-time, day shift, Monday through Friday with no weekend requirement.

Compensation. $150,000 - $155,000 per year plus 17.5% bonus structure
