Summary of position:
The Baker Center for Children and Families (also known as Judge Baker Children's Center), promotes the best possible mental health of children and families through the integration of research, intervention, training, and policy.
The Assistant Clinical Director is a member of the Manville School senior leadership team and supports the overall effectiveness of the school's clinical programming, with primary responsibility for psychological services, assessment, and clinical training. The Assistant Clinical Director provides leadership for psychology trainees, coordinates psychological testing, supports the implementation of evidence-based clinical practices in a school-based special education setting, and partners with the Clinical Director on staff development, APA internship training, and departmental initiatives. The Assistant Clinical Director also provides direct clinical services, including assessment, case management, and individual, family, and group therapy, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support student outcomes.
The position will also involve teaching and supervision. The successful applicant will be appointed at a Harvard Medical School rank (Instructor, Assistant or Associate Professor) commensurate with experience, training, achievements and a commitment to teaching Harvard students.

Essential duties:
- Functions as a member of the Manville School senior leadership team and participates in the development of long- and short-term goals for the school and clinical programs.
- Oversees administrative and the clinical training of psychology graduate students including practicum and APA internships.
- Serves as Manville School's liaison for the Baker Center Training Program.
- Assists with developing and maintaining effective training policies and procedures for our APA accredited predoctoral psychology internship program.
- Assist the Clinical Director in providing professional development for the clinical department and/or school staff.
- Onboards new staff psychologists & provides training and consultation for assessments for staff as needed.
- Supervises psychology trainees.
- Supervises and sign offs on any testing reports for staff psychologists who are in the process of licensure.
- Coordinates psychological testing, ensuring assessments are conducted accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established protocols.
- Ensures clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of students and caregivers utilizes structured, evidence-based approaches.
- Conducts screening to assess the need for emergency hospitalization of students in acute crisis during the school day.
- In conjunction with the Clinical Director, makes decisions regarding the filing of 51As in child abuse and neglect situations according to regulatory guidelines.
- Provides case management services, and individual and/or family therapy services, to students and their families.
- Designs and conducts group and dyad treatment with students who have specific emotional and behavioral needs, as necessary.
- Chairs quarterly and as needed multi-disciplinary team meetings consisting of teachers, school specialists, and milieu counseling staff.
Qualifications
Education:
- Doctorate in Psychology with current Massachusetts Psychologist Licensure in good standing is required.
Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience supervising clinical trainees and/or clinical staff in a therapeutic school-based program ideally using evidence-based practices.
- Experience in the clinical treatment of children, adolescents, and their families; in the clinical training and supervision of doctoral students; expertise in psychological evaluation.
- Expertise in trauma-informed care, associated interventions, crisis management, verbal de-escalation and risk-assessment.
- Expertise in case management, and in evaluation and assessment to support diagnostic impressions and treatment recommendations.
Training:
- Verbal de-escalation and behavior support strategies.
- Evidence-based clinical interventions.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices and how to adapt EBPs to students with complex presentations, high acuity, and resistance to treatment.
