Summary

The Food and Nutrition Program at Bowling Green State University (BGSU), Bowling Green, Ohio is seeking an applicant with experience in nutrition for a 9-month qualified rank faculty position at the Assistant Clinical Professor level with a start date of August 2027. The Program seeks an individual to join our undergraduate and graduate programs during an exciting time of growth and new opportunities.

Information about Program and College

The Food and Nutrition program in the Department of Public and Allied Health at BGSU offers an undergraduate program (approximately 130 students), a B.S. in Dietetics, in both face-to-face and online formats. Many of the undergraduate students assist faculty and graduate students with research or conduct independent honors research projects. Our courses are also taken by students who earn a minor in Nutrition and Foods or have specific courses required as part of their major, such as for those in exercise science or who specialize in Nutrition Science. At the graduate level (approximately 40 students), we offer a Master of Food and Nutrition, a Graduate Certificate in Food and Nutrition, and a Dietetic Internship. Both the B.S in Dietetics and the graduate Dietetic Internship are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). The undergraduate and graduate programs are offered both on-campus and through distance education. The Food and Nutrition undergraduate and graduate programs are currently dynamic and growing. The Food and Nutrition program moved to the newly renovated Health and Human Services building in fall of 2015 and received a new teaching kitchen, sensory laboratory, food science/chemistry laboratory, research collaboration spaces, and active learning classrooms. In 2021, the program added a Nutrition Clinic that allows for virtual nutrition education and medical nutrition therapy for a range of nutrition-related problems or conditions.

Essential Functions

Teaching food and nutrition courses in the undergraduate Dietetics program and Nutrition Sciences specialization, as well as the Master of Food and Nutrition and Dietetic Internship programs as needed. Ability to teach a variety of courses in nutrition and dietetics such as: FN 2070 Introduction to Human Nutrition, FN 2080 Introduction to Human Nutrition Lab, FN 2100 Fundamentals of Food Science, FN 2120 Food Prep, Availability, and Resources, and FN 4350 Lifecycle Nutrition: Pregnancy through Adolescence. Establishing a record of high-quality instruction, overseeing the FN 2080 lab, participating on academic committees, advising students, and providing professional service through community engagement and professional societies.

Minimum Qualifications

An earned master's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a closely related field; credentialed as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) is required. The candidate will have experience teaching at an accredited institution (teaching assistant experience is acceptable).

Preferred Qualifications

Two to three years of professional experience in food, nutrition, dietetics, or a related field is preferred. Experience teaching online and/or large lecture courses is desirable. Specialty credentials or certifications in nutrition and dietetics (e.g., advanced practice dietetics, nutrition support, renal nutrition, obesity and weight management, oncology nutrition, diabetes care and education, or other relevant specialty areas) are also preferred.
