    Job Summary

    Primary responsibilities are to assist the Head Coach in all aspects of Division I program including, but not limited to, teaching student athletes how to perform basketball, coordinating team travel arrangements, game day personnel management, some recruiting and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Administration. This position will also assist the Head Coach in organization, administration, and promotion of the program. Approximately 60% of the Assistant Coach's responsibility is dedicated to the instruction of basketball through on-court training and classroom training through use of video and other teaching techniques. Approximately 40% of the Assistant Coach's responsibility is recruiting and other administrative duties. Candidates must be committed to the academic and athletic success of the student-athletes.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    Duties/Responsibilities

    Assisting with any or all of the following duties as assigned by Head Coach:

    PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

    • Design and implement individualized player development plans for the offseason and in-season, tracking each student-athlete's progress toward specific skill goals
    • Incorporate film study and video review into individual and team instruction
    • Collaborate with fellow assistant coaches to build detailed, position-specific development plans
    • Maintain and communicate a weekly player development schedule to the Head Coach and staff.

    MARKETING/GEAR JOB DESCRIPTION

    • Partner with BSN Sports to maintain a competitive, first-class program look
    • Collaborate with the athletics external department to generate consistent promotional and social media content for the program
    • Proactively identify new marketing and brand-building opportunities for the program

    RECRUITING

    • Maintain a daily recruiting call list and build early relationships with prospective student-athletes, including underclassmen, a full recruiting cycle ahead of eligibility

    SCOUTING

    • Compile and organize scouting film and reports for the Head Coach
    • Maintain organized, up-to-date scouting materials ahead of each contest
    • Complete advance scouting reports on upcoming opponents ahead of the game schedule

    TRAVEL

    • Assist with coordination of team travel logistics, including transportation, lodging, and meals
    • Ensure smooth execution of travel itineraries and player punctuality throughout each trip

    PRACTICE FACILITY/SWISHER MAINTENANCE

    • Oversee graduate assistants, managers, and interns to ensure the practice facility is cleaned and presentable on a daily basis

    GAME DAY RESPONSIBILITY

    • Manage in-game bench organization, defensive matchups, and statistical tracking of opponent tendencies

    HOUSING

    • Coordinate on-campus and off-campus student-athlete housing in partnership with the Director of Basketball Operations

    Required Skills/Abilities

    • Knowledge of NCAA Rules and Regulations
    • Mastery of sport coached
    • Ability to lead, guide and direct graduate assistants, interns and student-athletes
    • Willingness to form relationships with constituents and help fundraise

    Education and Experience

    • Minimum Education Requirement:

    • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university, master's degree preferred

    • Minimum Work Experience:

    • Two years collegiate coaching experience at NCAA Division I level preferred

    • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with NCAA Division I Rules and Regulations

    • Proven recruiting abilities

    • Demonstrated leadership skills

    Physical Requirements

    Must be able to physically perform essential job duties or have special accommodations arranged in advance.

    Work Conditions:

    • Required to work atypical hours including nights, weekends, potential holidays
    • May be required to practice in heat, cold, inclement weather
