Assistant Men''s Lacrosse Coach

Location: Hickory, North Carolina

The assistant men''s lacrosse coach reports to the head men''s lacrosse coach and provides coaching expertise, leadership, management and administrative support for all aspects of a competitive NCAA program, resulting in a positive intercollegiate experience for student-athletes. The successful candidate will place the highest priority on academic integrity and student-athlete success.

Primary Duties and Tasks

• Provide leadership, organization and supervision for all practices and varsity contests in conjunction with the head coach.
• Organize and implement a successful recruiting program that attracts academically and athletically talented prospects with an unwavering commitment to retention, degree completion and academic success.
• Conduct all aspects of the program in accordance with NCAA rules, conference regulations, athletic department policies and university procedures.
• Foster an atmosphere of sportsmanship, professionalism and respect among athletics staff, coaches and student-athletes.
• Promote student-athlete safety and welfare in all aspects of the program.
• Manage team needs within the parameters of the annual budget. Review budget requests and projected fiscal needs.
• Schedule team travel, practices and contests in accordance with university policies, conference scheduling guidelines and NCAA bylaws under the direction of the head coach.
• Review student-athlete eligibility requirements to ensure full compliance with governing rules and regulations.
• Maintain positive working relationships with university staff, including Admission, Academic Affairs, Advancement and Student Affairs, as well as departmental staff to support an efficient and effective program.
• Maintain relationships with parents, alumni, friends of the program and other stakeholders to promote the athletics department.
• Attend and participate in athletics department meetings and NCAA rules education sessions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Demonstrated commitment to academic integrity, gender equity and student-athlete welfare, along with knowledge of NCAA and Title IX requirements.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

• Comprehensive understanding of NCAA athletics required.
• Bachelor''s degree required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver''s license and acceptable driving record required.
• Successful completion of an NCAA compliance background check.
• Successful completion of the annual coaches'' exam in accordance with NCAA guidelines.
• Successful completion of first aid, CPR and AED certification.

Physical Requirements and Work Schedule

• This position requires travel and variable work hours, including nights and weekends.
