Job Purpose:

  • The Part Time Assistant Coach at Midland University is responsible for supporting the head coach in developing athletes skills, fostering team spirit, and promoting sportsmanship. This role involves assisting in the planning and execution of training sessions, providing guidance to student-athletes, and contributing to the overall success of the athletic program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the head coach in planning and conducting training sessions for the team.
  • Provide individual and group instruction to student-athletes to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Support the head coach in developing game strategies and preparing the team for competitions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of athletes, offering constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that promotes sportsmanship and teamwork.
  • Assist in recruiting and evaluating potential student-athletes.
  • Ensure compliance with all university, conference, and NCAA regulations.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of training plans and schedules.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to the athletic program as needed.
  • Represent Midland University in a professional manner at all times.

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelors degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field preferred.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in coaching or assistant coaching in a collegiate or high school setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing training programs for student-athletes.
  • Experience in recruiting and retaining student-athletes is highly desirable.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of the rules and strategies of the sport.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with student-athletes, coaching staff, and administration.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their potential both academically and athletically.
  • Proficient in using sports-related technology and software for training and game preparation.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Commitment to maintaining a positive and inclusive team environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the sports schedule.
