    Description

    Job Title:

    Assistant Coach RC Athletic Program - Intermittent

    Physical Location:

     Tuscarawas Campus - New Philadelphia, OH 

    Salary:

     $17.00 per hour

    Basic Function:

    Provide assistance for men’s, women’s, and/or combined sports programs at Kent State regional campus. Help to promote programs within the university’s mission, including recruiting student-athletes. Reports to Manager, Student Activities & Services, Regional Campuses and Head Coach as designated.

    Examples of Duties:

    Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

    Help the Head Coach to provide leadership for the combined programs; utilize coaching strategies and teaching methods to develop student-athletes' skill and teamwork; analyze teams’ performance and adjust strategies as needed.

    Assist in recruitment of student-athletes.

    Help to enforce policies and procedures for student-athletes.

    Analyze equipment needs; assist with fundraising activities to subsidize athletic program.

    Assist in developing strategies to foster athletic and academic progress of student-athletes.

    May perform public relations activities to promote the program.

    Help to supervise student-athletes.

    Perform related duties as assigned.

    Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable:

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Must be able to work nontraditional hours, including evenings and weekends. Must be able to complete KSU’s 12-passenger van and mini-bus training. Must be able to transport athletes to and from athletic events in university vehicles. Must be able to travel regionally.

    License/Certification:

    Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and a safe driving record.

    Knowledge Of:

    National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) and United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) rules and regulations, plus all applicable rules and regulations associated with the sport being coached

    Student-athlete standard practices

    Skill In:

    Recruiting, coaching, instructing, and training student-athletes.

    Verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills.

    Basic computer use, including MS Excel and Word

    Ability To:

    Provide leadership and direction

    Manage a budget

    Analyze situations and develop solutions

    Work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends

    Travel regionally

    Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

    Bachelor’s degree. Collegiate-level athletic playing experience.

    We are looking to hire assistant coaches for men's and women's basketball, softball and baseball.
