Better Basketball NY is a youth basketball program dedicated to building strong sports foundations, confidence, and a genuine JOY for the game. Our program provides a positive, encouraging environment where young players can learn, develop, and have fun while building a lifelong appreciation for basketball.

Our coaches teach fundamental skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and game understanding in an engaging and age-appropriate setting. We aim to help every child improve on the court while developing confidence and discipline that carry into everyday life.

Role Description

\n

Better Basketball NY is seeking enthusiastic, and personable part-time basketball coaches to join our team beginning in September. Coaches will work with children in grades K–3rd at our Rockville Centre, NY facility.

\n

Coaches will assist with and/or lead basketball classes, teach fundamental skills, organize age-appropriate drills and games, and help create a positive, energetic, and safe environment for all players.

\n

The ideal candidate genuinely enjoys working with young children, has strong people skills, and can make basketball fun while maintaining a structured and supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching, teaching, or childcare experience is required.
• \n
• Basketball playing or coaching experience is preferred.
• \n
• Experience working with children in grades K–3 is a plus.
• \n
• Must be enthusiastic, energetic, patient, and positive when working with young children.
• \n
• Strong communication skills with children, parents, and fellow coaches.
• \n
• Ability to maintain an encouraging, and inclusive environment for players of different skill levels.
• \n
• Reliable, punctual, professional, and committed to the safety and well-being of all participants.
• \n
• Reliable transportation to and from our Rockville Centre facility is required.
• \n
• Availability on Sunday afternoons beginning in September.
