Assistant Coach – Strength and Conditioning

St. Edward's University invites applications for the position of Assistant Coach – Strength and Conditioning. This position assists with the design, implementation, and oversight of strength and conditioning programs for NCAA Division II student-athletes while supporting athletic performance, injury prevention, and overall student-athlete wellness.

For Consideration

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sports Management, or Exercise Science.
  • Minimum one year of collegiate strength and conditioning coaching experience.
  • Current NSCA-CSCS or CSCCa-SCCC certification (or ability to obtain within six months).
  • Current USAW Level 1 and CPR/AED certifications.
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Preferred.
  • Additional collegiate strength and conditioning experience.
  • Experience working with multiple sport programs at the NCAA Division II level.
  • Familiarity with performance tracking and strength and conditioning software.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement sport-specific training programs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, athletic trainers, and administrators.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist with the design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for varsity teams.
  • Monitor and evaluate student-athlete performance and progress.
  • Provide instruction on proper lifting techniques, conditioning methods, and wellness practices.
  • Assist with daily weight room operations, equipment maintenance, and risk management procedures.
  • Collaborate with coaches and athletic training staff regarding performance and injury modifications.
  • Supervise student workers and interns.
  • Support departmental initiatives, wellness programming, and compliance efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
