Job Summary

The Assistant Track & Field coach assists the Head Coach with the overall organization of the program. The primary responsibility is to recruit, and coach combined events and vertical jumps. Additional responsibilities include planning on-campus recruitment, team travel, and other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists the Head Track Coach during practice and competition.

  • Assists the Head Track Coach with a variety of administrative duties.

  • Assists in developing a successful recruiting program and will attempt to recruit the best students as well as athletes.

  • Recognizes and promotes the best interest of the student athletes both academically and athletically, encouraging each to graduate.

  • Available to the news media on appropriate occasions as determined by the Head Track Coach in conjunction with the Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations.

  • Other duties may be assigned to this position on a regular or occasional basis to respond to the needs of the university.

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • 2 years NCAA Division I and/or professional experience as a coach or student athlete.

  • Knowledge of NCAA rules required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree.

  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

  • Commitment to compliance and academic success.

  • Effective communication, both written and oral.

  • Exceptionally strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to assist with budgetary management for department.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position required sitting and standing for extended periods of time and lifting to 25 pounds while performing the essential functions as described within the essential job functions.

Job Conditions:

  • Work indoors/outdoors in all seasons.
