ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER, X43

 

DEPARTMENT OF WATER MANAGEMENT

Commissioner’s Office

 

Number of Positions: 1

(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)

Starting Salary: $133,836.00

This position will need to coordinate security operations across all locations. This position will develop and implement safety and security programs to reduce or eliminate thefts, vandalism and/or unauthorized entry into our secured sites.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

 

·      Leads and directs management level staff in developing new or revising existing program operations designed to improve or expand departmental services.

·      Coordinates and directs the work efforts towards researching new technologies, reviewing performance against goals and objectives, and evaluating programs for deficiencies and accomplishments.

·      Coordinates work efforts with management in developing strategic plans and implementing changes in staffing, operating procedures, and work processes designed to improve the administration of programs, increase operational efficiencies and accomplishments.

·      Functions as the head of an operational division or section within a department accountable for the management of the organization’s work operations, direction and oversight of staff, and control of budgetary and administrative functions.

·      Manages functions include budget preparations, grant funding, human resources, labor relations, finance and accounting, contracts administration and purchasing, accounts payable and inventory management, computer support, and office management activities.

·      Develop and implement policies related to safety and security, equipment and facilities.

·      Direct and implement operational security.

·      Makes recommendations to institute and upgrade security systems and devices.

·      Directs the assignments of safety and security personnel.

·      Supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of safety and security staff.

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training, and Experience

·      Nine (9) years of experience in security operations or law enforcement, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR

·      Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate’s degree insecurity operations or law enforcement, including seven (7) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR

·      Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree insecurity operations or law enforcement, including five (5) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR

·      Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree or higher insecurity operations or law enforcement, including four (4) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the
