Candidates must be a member in good standing with the Virginia State Bar or waiting for Virginia Bar results. Prior litigation and/or criminal justice experience is highly desirable, but we would train the right candidate.

This is an entry level to mid-level position. Prospective hire will receive guidance and supervision as needed to develop trial skills and prosecute cases in General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and Circuit Court. Candidate will also perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Commonwealth’s Attorney. Candidates should be able to exercise independent judgement and initiative. Prior criminal justice experience preferred but not required.
Our office is located in the Rockbridge County Courthouse in beautiful downtown Lexington, Virginia. Our staff of ten includes the elected Commonwealth's Attorney, a Chief Deputy, 3 Assistant Commonwealth Attorneys, a Victim Advocate and support staff. We are hiring for a new Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney.
