Non-Merit vacancies exist in the Bureau of Clinical Services, Women, Infant and Children (WIC), Department of Health and
Human Services.
Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.

Examples of Duties
Under general supervision, provides consultation and assessment, and delivers various nutrition related services, including
public health, nutrition education, and food service programs, to individuals, families, and groups.
Examples of Essential Duties
according to established Federal regulations and State guidelines.
Takes and records pertinent client information including height, weight, and hemoglobin measurements.
Obtains clients diet histories and assesses adequacy using standard guidelines.
Prepares and implements nutrition plans. Prescribes food packages to meet clients medical and nutritional needs.
Counsels clients, provides educational materials, and makes referrals to other appropriate resources.
Assists in the planning and implementation of nutritional education programs and outreach activities.
Assist in the development and distribution of educational materials, such as pamphlets, audio-visual aids, displays
and reports.
Assist in evaluating the need for services, and in the planning and implementation of service delivery.
Receives, investigates, and resolves inquiries, requests, and complaints.
Assists in the development of new or improved clinic processes and/or procedures. Assists in training and orienting
new personnel.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate in Arts degree in health education, nutrition, dietetics,
human ecology/home science, or a related field.
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid drivers license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland drivers license is required at the
time of appointment.
Proof of Licenses, Certifications and Education
Applicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required
qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicants major field of study. Copies and unofficial
transcripts are acceptable.

Proof of Degree Equivalency

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which

Salary
Annual Salary review - Step increases may be granted on anniversary date based on satisfactory job performance
General Increases - Cost of living increases and adjustments may be granted as legislated.
Longevity Increases - In accordance with the specific pay schedule, a full-time merit or classified employee may receive a longevity increase, equivalent to one step, upon completion of a certain number of years of classified service with the County.

Health Insurance
