JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for supporting the Construction Manager in supervising, mentoring, and scheduling daily activities for construction and development inspectors for City of Conroe (CIP) jobsites. This role involves assisting with the oversight of vertical and horizontal infrastructure inspections, verifying field compliance with industry standards, and coordinating quality control on major City of Conroe development projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in construction inspection, team leadership, and public works coordination.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred) with a minimum of three (3) years of experience; or ten (10) years of related experience with a municipality, public entity, or a consulting civil engineering firm; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements:

Possession of a valid Class C Texas driver's license or higher.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Solid knowledge of vertical (buildings/structures) and horizontal (roads/bridges/utilities) construction.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (e.g., ACI, AASHTO, OSHA, IBC, NEC, local building codes).
  • Strong team leadership, problem-solving, and collaborative decision-making abilities.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills for mentoring staff and coordinating with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in construction management software, permit tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in adverse field conditions and perform rigorous physical site inspections.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is light and requires exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, crouching, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, talking, and walking.
