AZALEA WANG Assistant Controller (Wholesale Footwear & Fashion)
Azalea Wang is seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller to support accounting and finance operations for our fast-growing wholesale footwear and fashion business. This role is ideal for someone with experience in wholesale apparel, footwear, retail, inventory accounting, and high-volume operations who is ready to take the next step into leadership.

This position plays a key role in month-end close, financial reporting, inventory accounting, wholesale AR/AP operations, process improvements, and cross-functional financial support, with strong growth potential into a Controller role.
The Position: Assistant Controller (Wholesale Footwear & Fashion)
Location: Chicago, IL - Onsite
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
Support and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
Prepare financial statements, reconciliations, variance analysis, and reporting
Maintain general ledger accuracy and support audit readiness
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
Wholesale AR/AP & Vendor Management
Manage wholesale accounts receivable, retailer deductions, chargebacks, and remittance reconciliation
Support accounts payable operations, vendor reconciliations, and payment processing
Partner with sales, operations, and EDI teams to resolve billing and compliance issues
Coordinate with domestic and international vendors on payments and account maintenance
Inventory & Cost Accounting
Support inventory accounting, reconciliations, reserves, and COGS reporting
Partner with merchandising and operations on inventory controls and costing accuracy
Assist with physical inventory counts and inventory analysis
Systems & Process Improvement
Support NetSuite ERP reporting, workflows, and accounting processes
Help improve internal controls, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency
Assist with system implementations and process documentation
Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership
Help mentor and support accounting team members
Partner cross-functionally with operations, merchandising, logistics, and leadership teams
Support audits, reporting requests, and strategic finance initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA preferred but not required
5+ years of accounting experience in wholesale apparel, footwear, fashion, retail, or consumer goods
Strong experience with:
Month-end close
Inventory & cost accounting
Wholesale AR/AP
Retail deductions & chargebacks
Financial reporting & reconciliations
ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
Advanced Excel skills
Experience in fast-paced, high-volume environments
