Job Overview:
Search Solution Group is seeking an Assistant Controller on behalf of our client, a privately held corporation that develops and sells aftermarket automotive air suspension products for vehicles. This position is responsible for overseeing accounting operations across multiple business units, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting strategic financial decision-making. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in managing accounting processes, inventory and cost accounting, and supervising accounting staff across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee accounting operations for several business units
  • Lead cost accounting and inventory accounting functions across all locations.
  • Ensure strong financial governance, internal controls, and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Manage financial records, reconciliations, and reporting processes within QuickBooks.
  • Support and help lead month-end close and financial reporting activities.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide direction to bookkeepers at each site.
  • Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to support business and operational decisions.
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial statements and accounting records.
  • Assist with process improvements and implementation of accounting best practices.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams across multiple locations to support operational goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements Include:Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
  • Experience in cost accounting and inventory accounting required.
  • Previous experience overseeing accounting staff such as bookkeepers.
  • Experience managing accounting operations across multiple locations preferred.
  • Experience within manufacturing, automotive, or product-based industries is a plus.
Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Certifications:
  • CPA designation is a plus but not required.
Knowledge:
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and governance practices.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and cost accounting methodologies.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.
  • Understanding of multi-entity accounting operations.
