Duties Description The New York State Education Department's Office of the Professions, which regulates over 50 professions licensed by the New York State Board of Regents, is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Counsel in its Office of Professional Discipline (OPD) downstate regional office. Under the direction of the OPD management and a supervising attorney, the incumbent will participate in the development and review of investigations into allegations of professional misconduct. Other duties will include, but not be limited to, the following activities:
Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be admitted to the New York State Bar AND have at least two years of relevant, post-graduate experience, including significant trial work or administrative hearing experience, demonstrating progressively responsible experience in such areas. Experience prosecuting cases of sexual abuse strongly preferred.
Additional Comments This position is in the exempt class and the incumbent will serve at the discretion of the Commissioner of Education. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. This position allows for the opportunity to telecommute up to 30% each bi-weekly pay period and is granted at the discretion of the supervisor and the appointing office. Frequent same day travel and occasional overnight travel throughout the State will be required. Filling of this position is contingent upon Division of the Budget approval.
Based on this position's location, in addition to the listed base salary, this position may also receive a $4,000 Downstate Adjustment
