Job Details
The Assistant Dean of Nursing provides leadership and operational support for the nursing program, helping drive academic excellence, student achievement, faculty success, and program growth. This individual partners closely with academic leadership to ensure curriculum quality, regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, and the effective utilization of institutional resources.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
Provide instruction in nursing courses, including both classroom and clinical settings.
Support the delivery of high-quality nursing education through consistent curriculum implementation.
Ensure course content, syllabi, and learning resources remain current and standardized.
Promote evidence-based teaching practices and student-centered learning.
Faculty Leadership & Development
Assist with faculty onboarding, mentoring, training, and professional development initiatives.
Provide coaching, support, and performance feedback to nursing faculty.
Help maintain adequate faculty coverage and efficient scheduling.
Foster a collaborative culture focused on instructional excellence and student success.
Student Success & Program Outcomes
Support initiatives that improve retention, persistence, completion rates, and overall student satisfaction.
Provide academic advisement and guidance to students facing academic challenges.
Monitor academic progress and ensure adherence to institutional standards and policies.
Participate in student success and intervention efforts designed to promote positive educational outcomes.
Program Operations
Assist in the administration and daily management of the nursing program.
Support academic reporting, program assessment, and continuous quality improvement efforts.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to secure and maintain clinical placement opportunities.
Participate in program planning, implementation, and evaluation activities.
Compliance & Accreditation
Support compliance with state nursing regulations, accreditation requirements, and institutional policies.
Assist with accreditation preparation, self-study activities, and regulatory reviews.
Monitor student achievement data and contribute to action plans that support continuous improvement.
Maintain current knowledge of nursing education regulations and accreditation standards.
Leadership & Collaboration
Serve on committees and contribute to policy development and program improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with faculty, administration, and external partners to advance organizational goals.
Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, professionalism, and continuous learning.
Qualifications
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Idaho required
Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
Experience in nursing education, academic administration, or nursing leadership
Demonstrated knowledge of nursing program operations, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to mentor faculty, support student success initiatives, and manage multiple priorities effectively
Preferred Experience
Leadership experience within a nursing education program
Experience with accreditation processes and regulatory compliance
Curriculum development and program assessment experience
Experience managing faculty and supporting academic operations
Work Environment
This position operates primarily in an academic and clinical education environment. Some travel may be required. Candidates should be comfortable working in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings while supporting students, faculty, and program operations.
