Position Summary:

The Assistant Dean of Facilities and Administrative Affairs, reporting to the Dean and Vice Provost for the Arts, provides operational oversight and coordination of facilities, administrative services, and event support across the Center for the Performing and Cinematic Arts (CPCA). This role supports the effective day-to-day functioning of academic, administrative, and performance spaces across multiple CPCA locations.

Working in collaboration with central university departments, including Facilities Management and Public Safety, the Assistant Dean coordinates facility-related activities, supports renovation and construction projects, and assists with space planning, vendor engagement, and move-in logistics. The role serves as a primary point of contact for facility-related operational needs and helps ensure that spaces are maintained to support teaching, learning, and performance activities.

The Assistant Dean provides operational oversight of the Temple Performing Arts Center (TPAC) through supervision of the General Manager, ensuring alignment of scheduling, event logistics, and facility use with CPCA priorities. The position also supports internal and external events, including academic, donor, and community programming.

In addition, this role supports administrative processes including purchasing, accounts payable coordination, inventory tracking, and reporting. The Assistant Dean works closely with CPCA leadership, faculty, and staff to address facility-related needs, support event execution, and contribute to a safe and functional campus environment. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

At least five (5) years of directly related administrative experience. Demonstrated experience with Facility management in an Arts related environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abiilities:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse group of administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, assess, and determine projections and/or solutions based on assessments
  • General understanding of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and painting processes
  • General understanding of PA systems, AV systems, IT systems, lighting systems
  • Ability to create, modify data on spreadsheets, prepare presentations, etc.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently with time-sensitive deadlines and assist/support multiple areas.
  • Ability to oversee and manage day-to-day facility environment spread out over 14 different buildings
  • Ability to look at detailed architectural plans and to be able to articulate needs of the CPCA to facility planners/architects
  • Understanding of event planning, and oversight of assigned budget expenses.
  • Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to understand finance and process financial documentation.
  • Ability to understand web communications, social media, and websites, and enter data on sites.
  • Ability to work some evening/weekend hours and off-site work.

Preferred:
  • Music and/or Arts Facility background.
  • Strong speaking and presentation skills.
