Job Description:
The Assistant Director of Athletics will support student-athlete and community wellness and serve as a member of the Director of Athletics and Physical Education's leadership team. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Assistant Director is responsible for the development of wellness programs for student-athletes, students, faculty, and staff. The position serves all 12 varsity sports as well as the campus community.

Characteristic Responsibilities
Campus/Community Wellness
- Implement and enhance programming for Fit Club. Provide fitness and wellness programs for the campus community.
- Establish recreational programming for students.
- Develop infrastructure and programming for fitness center orientations
Student-Athlete Wellness
- Develop and execute programming for student-athletes around wellness, including but not limited to topics such as time management, sleep, nutrition, etc.
- Work collaboratively with Student Success, OwlWell, Residential Life, and other campus partners.
- Collaborate with Head Coaches to identify areas of growth for student-athletes and develop team/athlete programming.
- Coordinate with Director of Mental Performance to support student-athletes outside of their competitive experience.
Physical Education Coordinator
- Establish academic year physical education schedule, coordinating closely with Physical Education faculty and the Registrar.
- Hire, mentor, and coordinate adjunct physical education instructors.
- Coordinate with Registrar to ensure accurate record keeping and effective communication with students regarding PE requirements
- Develop, manage, distribute and collect PE student surveys.
- Prepare annual summary reports for faculty end of the year reviews and reappointments.
- Liaise with other student-focused departments, including the Office of Access Services and Deans Office.
- Verify physical education credit for club participation with Resident Life Club Coordinator
Additional Responsibilities
- Serve as a home game manager at select home events.
- Attend and help plan events that support the Department of Athletics and Physical Education.
- Manage budget for recreation and wellness programming.
- Serve as delegate to the Director of Athletics and Associate Athletic Director, as needed
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in higher education, sports management, or related field required.
- Minimum five years of related and progressively responsible experience in collegiate athletics, athletic administration, or related field.
- Experience working within NCAA or other college athletic programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of student-athlete development, mentoring, engagement, and retention.
- Ability to support the mission and values of the institution and athletics department. Experience with fitness and wellness programming.
- Ability to build effective relationships with students, coaches, faculty, and other campus community members.
- Certification in personal training or similar certification.
- Experience with college age population.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required for athletic events and departmental responsibilities.
- Successful completion of satisfactory background checks.
