Job Goal:

The Assistant Director of Business Development is a seasoned sales professional who supports the Director of Marketing by leading the strategy and execution of revenue-generating initiatives that expand Region 4's products, services, and partnerships.

This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities while strengthening relationships with districts, partners, and external stakeholders. The Assistant Director will implement sales-focused strategies that increase participation in Region 4 offerings, identify emerging market opportunities, and develop approaches that grow the organization's customer base.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this position collaborates closely with internal teams to align outreach, marketing, and partnership efforts with organizational growth goals. Through a combination of strategic planning and hands-on engagement, this role helps position Region 4 as a trusted partner of choice for districts and education leaders.

Position requires up to 50% travel, including overnight stays.

Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or related field, MBA a plus

Experience:
  1. 5 years of sales of business development experience
  2. 3 years of supervisory or management experience
  3. Sales pipeline development and CRM management experience (Salesforce, HubSpot, Monday.com CRM, or similar)
  4. Experience in developing strategic partnerships and engagement initiatives
  5. Experience in market analysis and opportunity identification for revenue growth

Major Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the execution of Region 4's business development strategy by translating organizational priorities into actionable growth initiatives across products, services, and partnerships.
  2. Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities that expand Region 4's reach while managing key client relationships with districts, partners, and vendors and cultivating new strategic partnerships.
  3. Oversee day-to-day business development operations by prioritizing opportunities, aligning outreach efforts, and ensuring initiatives move efficiently from planning through execution.
  4. Track emerging markets and trends and identify and recommend new business opportunities, including preparing sales forecasts, conducting market share analysis, developing sales presentations, and reporting on performance.
  5. Lead partnership and revenue growth initiatives across Region 4's service lines and strategic platforms, including PrintWorks, DevelopWorks, the Texas Education Exchange, conferences, professional development programs, and other initiatives as Region 4 continues to expand its portfolio of offerings.
  6. Foster and maintain an entrepreneurial growth culture across Region 4 by encouraging collaboration across departments and initiatives that support revenue growth and expanded service adoption.
  7. Build and maintain relationships with district leaders, external partners, and vendors to strengthen Region 4's presence and expand opportunities for collaboration.
  8. Help shape long-term objectives by contributing to the development of strategic business plans that support sustainable growth and expanded partnerships.
  9. Provide recommendations for product development, distribution, and promotional strategies that strengthen Region 4 offerings and increase adoption of services, programs, and events.
  10. Travel in-state and out-of-state to represent Region 4 at conferences, meetings, and partner events to strengthen relationships and identify opportunities for expansion.
  11. Collaborate with internal departments, including instructional areas, marketing, and product teams, to support revenue goals and expand participation in Region 4 offerings.
  12. Maintain and manage sales pipelines and partnership opportunities using CRM tools to track engagement, progress, and revenue performance.
  13. Review participation trends, revenue performance, and market insights to inform business development strategy and guide future growth initiatives.
  14. Supervise and develop assigned staff by providing leadership, sales coaching, and performance feedback that promotes accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
  15. Perform all other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  1. In coordination with the Marketing Director, establish clear expectations, set goals, and provide regular feedback to promote accountability and performance improvement.
  2. In coordination with the Marketing Director, oversee sales pipelines, outreach activity, and opportunity timelines to ensure consistent progress toward closing deals and achieving revenue goals.
  3. Supervise and support assigned staff, including onboarding, training, and performance management.
  4. Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing workplace.
  5. Ensure compliance with Region 4 policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal guidelines.
