Appointment: Regular, part-time (.92 FTE) position. Full time schedule during the academic year, transitions to reduced hours during the summer.

This position is based in Tacoma, WA, and is an on-campus role only.

Position Summary:
The Assistant Director manages day-to-day operations in the Center for Writing and Learning (CWL), in person. The Assistant Director supports student academic achievement at the University of Puget Sound by supervising the Centers office assistants, peer academic consultants, and co-readers; and working with faculty and staff members in the Center for Writing and Learning to assess and further develop our programming
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Supports CWL operations (e.g., submitting Facilities requests, ordering office supplies and paper for printers/copiers, managing the department bulletin board, managing CWL social media accounts, and managing departmental shared network drives and Google share drives)
Leads CWL student general academic success-building, including
Hires, trains, and mentors Peer Academic Consultants and Co-Readers
Works with Academic Consultants and Co-Readers to offer CWL workshops on reading and learning, and improving students academic performance.
Leads workshops and classes as needed on college reading and learning strategies
Hires, trains, and mentors all CWL tutors in collaboration with CWL Co-Directors.
Hires, trains, and mentors student Office Assistants
Creates and manages the schedule each semester for all tutor appointments through WC Online software
Tracks and monitors all student staff attendance, and approves timecards for all student staff members
Co-leads new tutor orientation and ongoing education with the CWL Co-Directors
Coordinates with the CWL Co-Directors to develop and assess CWL services and events
Interfaces with various university offices to engage in outreach and strengthen visibility of the CWL across the campus community
Coordinates services for students seeking personalized assistance by assessing student needs and referring to appropriate student, staff, or self-directed resources.
Represents the CWL on the CARE team

The anticipated range for this position is $32.16 to $32.85. Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidates education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.
