Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor s degree. A minimum of six years of progressive professional procurement or administrative experience are required to include supervisory experience in procurement and contracts.

The Assistant Director of DTPW Contracting and Procurement is responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight of all procurement activities, including Construction, Architectural & Engineering, and Goods & Services. The Assistant Director will work closely with the SPD Director or designee, as the Procurement and Contracting Lead to develop and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, generate cost savings, and mitigate risk throughout the procurement lifecycle.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned procurement professional with strong leadership skills and extensive experience in public-sector contracting, policy development, and compliance. This role manages the full procurement lifecycle, supervises procurement staff and division chiefs, and ensures efficient, timely delivery of essential goods and services.

Key responsibilities include driving process improvements, mitigating risk, developing agenda items and memorandums, managing vendor performance, and coordinating closely with the Strategic Procurement Department, County Attorney's Office, and executive leadership. The Assistant Director will evaluate procurement team structures, staffing needs, and workloads, recommending improvements that enhance operational efficiency and strategic alignment.

Candidates should demonstrate exceptional communication skills, negotiation experience, and a proven ability to lead complex, multi‑stakeholder procurement operations.
