Position Summary
Delaware County Community College (DCCC), located outside of the Philadelphia Metro area, is looking for a talented and dynamic Assistant Director of Disability Services in our Career & Counseling Center to join our team of diverse higher education professionals who are committed to student success
Essential Functions
The Assistant Director of Disability Services is responsible for working with faculty and staff to provide reasonable accommodations to students with disabilities at branch campuses. This includes reviewing documentation, meeting with students and professors, coordinating accommodations, advising, and conducting workshops. The Assistant Director will be located at the Marple Campus and branch locations. The Assistant Director will also hold office hours at the Downingtown and New Southeast Centers. This full-time administrative position requires a flexible schedule to meet departmental needs, including evening and extended hours. The Assistant Director must have the ability and willingness to travel on short notice, to all branch campuses as needed by the College.
The successful candidate must have strong knowledge of disability rights legislation including knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and other appropriate laws pertaining to higher education and disability. The ability to utilize adaptive technology resources and functions and assistive technology programs to ensure that we are meeting student where they are at as well as a commitment to serving the needs of culturally diverse and ability-diverse populations. This individual will manage active caseload of students with disabilities and develops a case management system that supports accurate record keeping for each student including relevant information related to eligibility, provision of services, and basis for accommodation decisions and recommendations, and maintains confidential record keeping.
Experience & Education
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in the provision of services for students with disabilities in a college/university setting, direct service in education or community agency as well as demonstrated expertise in disability issues, including proficiency reviewing disability documentation for legal and policy compliance and to determining reasonable accommodation on that basis. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any area of higher education, counseling, psychology, or related discipline. Master's degree preferred.
