The Assistant Director of Research IT provides operational leadership and administrative oversight for LSU Health Shreveport''s Research IT organization. This position is responsible for coordinating day-today service delivery, operational planning, customer engagement, resource management, and continuous improvement activities that support research administration, research computing, research data services, analytics, and research security operations. The Assistant Director works collaboratively with faculty, researchers, Research Administration, Information Technology Services, Compliance, and institutional leadership to ensure research technology services are delivered effectively, efficiently, and in alignment with institutional priorities. The position oversees operational processes, service metrics, customer support activities, staff supervision, and strategic initiatives designed to enhance the research enterprise. Regular attendance is required to perform the functions of this position. Incumbent will maintain a customer-oriented awareness in acknowledging and responding to needs as they occur that customer satisfaction is met at all times. Essential Position Functions & Duties 50% Research IT Operations Leadership Provides day-to-day operational leadership for Research IT programs, services, and support activities. Oversees service delivery processes supporting research administration, research computing, research data management, analytics, and research security functions. Develops, implements, and maintains operational procedures, service standards, and workflows supporting Research IT activities. Coordinates operational activities across Research IT functional areas to ensure services are delivered efficiently and consistently. Collaborates with institutional stakeholders to identify service needs, operational challenges, and opportunities for improvement. Monitors service performance and develops operational metrics, dashboards, and reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement. Leads customer engagement, intake, issue escalation, and service coordination activities. Supports operational planning, resource management, and prioritization of Research IT activities. Coordinates departmental communications, operational reporting, and service status updates. Supports development and implementation of strategic initiatives that improve research technology services and operational effectiveness. 25% Research Technology Service Management Oversees operational support for research administration systems, research computing resources, data platforms, analytics services, and research technology tools. Coordinates service requests, issue resolution, and support activities with internal and external service providers. Works with technical staff to ensure technology services meet customer needs and operational requirements. Leads implementation and operational transition of new technology solutions and services. Coordinates software lifecycle activities, including service onboarding, renewals, and operational support processes. Maintains service documentation, knowledge resources, operational procedures, and support standards. 20% Operational Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement Coordinates operational activities across Research IT functional areas, including research administration systems, research computing, data services, analytics, and research security initiatives. Serves as a primary point of contact for faculty, researchers, administrators, and institutional stakeholders seeking Research IT services and support. Facilitates communication and collaboration between Research IT, Information Technology Services, Research Administration, Compliance, and academic departments. Leads intake, prioritization, and coordination of Research IT requests, projects, and service initiatives. Represents Research IT on institutional committees, working groups, and strategic initiatives. Develops and maintains strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to support research technology needs and service improvement efforts. Coordinates meetings, project teams, and cross-functional working groups in support of departmental objectives. May supervise professional, technical, and administrative personnel as assigned.
