Reporting to the Director of Revenue Cycle, the Assistant Director, Business Office provides operational leadership across hospital business office functions. This individual will monitor departmental productivity and quality, support managers and staff, address workflow inefficiencies, and help implement policies and procedures aligned with organizational goals.

Oversee daily business office operations, including billing, collections, cash posting, and accounts receivable management
Monitor work queues and ensure accounts are followed up on in a timely and accurate manner
Review aged and high-balance accounts and provide direction on resolution strategies
Track departmental productivity, quality, and performance against established goals
Develop, coach, and support managers and staff while fostering a collaborative team environment
Partner with internal departments including coding, CDI, medical records, clinical teams, and IT to support accurate and timely billing and collections
Analyze operational and financial data and prepare reports related to collections, reimbursement, cash posting, payment arrangements, refunds, and other business office metrics
Respond to and assist with the resolution of complaints, concerns, and escalated issues
Serve as a liaison to internal stakeholders, payers, third-party vendors, and outside agencies
Identify process improvement opportunities and support system enhancements and implementation efforts
Evaluate vendor relationships and technological solutions that support business office operations
Assist with budget development and monitor expenditures to support efficient use of resources
Maintain compliance with applicable governmental, regulatory, and payer requirements
Act as a point person for the department in the absence of the Director
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in business office or revenue cycle operations
Minimum of 3 years of management experience
Strong knowledge of hospital billing, claims processing, collections, accounts receivable, and payer reimbursement practices
Advanced understanding of payer-specific billing requirements, regulations, and best practices
Experience leading teams, managing performance, and driving operational improvement
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
