Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with major emphasis on foods, nutrition and/or food service management, Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related field, preferred
Minimum ten (10) years of progressive experience in upper management positions, required
Food service experience with a school district comparable to Katy ISD or a position with similar work responsibilities.
Knowledge of employment laws, workplace policies, and employee relations best practices.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively under the direction of senior leadership.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
Ability to present material to diverse audiences and facilitate meetings.
Ability to motivate and engage personnel across varied backgrounds.
Ability to identify and resolve problems
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Skill in providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to adapt quickly and successfully to changes; deliver quality results in a timely manner
Ability to work effectively under pressure within deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
Ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality, exercise sound judgement and discretion
Ability to work any hours required to meet departmental needs and functions; may include early mornings, evenings, holidays and summer months
Advanced knowledge of computer and software applications
Food Handler certified, Food Service Manager certification preferred
Primary Purpose:
The Nutrition & Food Service Assistant Director of Employee Services supports the Nutrition & Food Service Director - Employee Services in managing employee relations, workforce engagement, and labor compliance within the food service department. Reporting directly to the Director, this role focuses on promoting positive labor relationships, consistent application of policies, effective communication, and compliance with employment laws and organizational standards. The Assistant Director serves as a trusted partner to the Director in fostering a respectful, productive, and high-performing work environment.

Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors):
Normal Office work environment with travel and visitations to schools, kitchens, stadiums, concessions, arenas, warehouse, and other district facilities. May have exposure to dust and environmental allergens consistent with normal business activity and human contact. Position involves sitting; walking; standing; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping and bending; performing tasks requiring fine motor skills and coordination; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds. Work extended times at a computer and may require working extended hours and some evenings and weekends, as needed. Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent districtwide travel.
