Opportunity Statement The Assistant Director of College Counseling supports boys and their families through every stage of the college search, application, and admission process. This role partners closely with faculty, advisors, and staff across the school community to promote each student's academic, personal, and social growth. Additionally, the Assistant Director is expected to build strong relationships with college admissions officers and develop a deep understanding of higher education institutions through ongoing collaboration and outreach. In addition to their college counseling responsibilities, this professional is expected to be actively engaged in the broader school community through supporting the mission of the school, building positive relationships with students, families and colleagues and contributing to the school life through committees, events, and activities. This is a 10 month position. What You'll Do · Meet regularly with students and families to provide personalized guidance on course selection, standardized testing, extracurricular involvement, summer opportunities, and developing a well-balanced college list. · Participate in divisional and school-wide meetings; represent the office in lieu of director when needed. · Support students through the application process, including essay review, interview preparation, and completion of school forms and recommendations. · Write and submit school reports and recommendation letters that highlight each student's accomplishments, strengths, and character. · Collaborate with faculty, coaches, administration, and staff to deliberate a holistic understanding of each student to support them through their admissions process. · Implement appropriate programming for students and parents (e.g., athletic liasion, college nights, workshops, mock interviews). · Build and maintain strong relationships with college admission representatives through campus visits, professional networks, and hosting events that expand opportunities for students. · Communicate proactively, clearly, and in a timely manner with students, families, and faculty regarding deadlines, requirements, and trends in college admission. · Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and administrators to support adolescent males and foster a deeper understanding of their experiences throughout the college admissions process. · Continue to establish and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with counterparts at St. Paul's School for Girls. · Stay current with changes in higher education and admission practices by attending conferences, visiting campuses, and engaging in professional networks. · Confidence in using appropriate technology and resources, such as SCOIR, College Money Method, Teams. · Contribute to other school programs and activities as appropriate and serve as a positive representative of the school's mission and values. Who You Are · Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in education, counseling, or a related field preferred. · Minimum of three years of experience in college counseling, college admissions, or a related field. · Strong ability to build relationships with students, families, colleagues, and higher-education professionals. · Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work independently. · Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. The St. Paul's Schools has a compensation scale based on direct years of experience and degree held. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's years of experience, education and skills. For this opportunity, our salary range is $55,000 to $65,000 annually. Candidates with additional experience or qualifications may be offered a salary outside of the range shown.
