Major/Essential Functions

  • Qualify, manage, and build meaningful relationships with a portfolio of 100-150 donors and prospects, including
  • Major Gift and Victory Circle members, whose philanthropic interests align with Texas Tech University Athletics and the University's strategic vision.
  • Develop robust fundraising proposals, solicit donors for philanthropic gifts (including Red Raider Club Excellence Fund gifts), and secure major gifts as outlined in annual plans.
  • Meet goals for key metrics such as asks, gifts secured, substantial contacts, face-to-face visits (including a minimum of 150 annually), portfolio penetration, and solicitations as established each fiscal year in coordination with the Sr. Associate Athletics Director.
  • Manage and grow a Major Gift/Victory Circle portfolio, including generating new Victory Circle members and overseeing donor groups within designated sports units.
  • Adhere to procedures and best practices regarding documenting donor interactions, annual giving, donor engagement and stewardship, alumni relations, events, gift processing, and utilization of the donor alumni database.
  • Represent Texas Tech University, Texas Tech Athletics, the Red Raider Club, and the TTU Office of Advancement at university, athletics, alumni, and community events in a professional manner.
  • Maintain strong communication and a collaborative culture within the TTU Office of Advancement, TTUS Institutional Advancement, and the Athletics Development team to effectively engage, cultivate, and steward donors.
  • Assist your direct supervisor (and Athletics leadership when appropriate) in developing annual plans aligned with the strategic vision of Texas Tech University, Texas Tech Athletics, and the TTU Office of Advancement.
  • Manage budgets related to advancement initiatives (including travel, events, and stewardship) and serve as a responsible steward of resources provided by the University, Athletics, and donors.
  • Comply with all NCAA, Big 12, and Texas Tech University rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One or more years of professional fundraising experience involving managing a major gift portfolio or equivalent professional experience in sales.
  • Previous experience working in intercollegiate or professional athletics.
  • Successful experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Knowledge of fundraising, including annual giving, gift planning, corporate and foundation relations, campaign management, and strategic planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional initiative and the ability to work with limited direct supervision.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently and participate in occasional evening and weekend activities.
