Salary: $40,000-$51,100
SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Digital Content is charged with capturing the visual assets, both video and still, required to convey the communication messages of Luther College. The position will train and supervise student workers who focus on capturing still images for the college, and will collaborate closely with the Director of Digital Content and the Office of Marketing on the conceptualization, production, and distribution of visual media. The assistant director will maintain the college's online repository of still images, and assist when needed with uploads of video products to social media platforms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Produce professional-quality video and photography to be used on the web, social media, and traditional media consistent with the Luther brand and strategic goals.
Develop and optimize workflow techniques to manage visual media projects effectively and efficiently
Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor student photographers
Assist when needed with recruitment, training and supervision of student videographers
Manage assignments, and calendar in collaboration with the Creative Director
Manage and maintain digital management system for video and photo, making files searchable and accessible for use.
Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of all gear and production supplies
Monitor visual media trends in both technology and messaging, and assist in addressing how the college can utilize them in communication of strategic goals and values.
Recruit, train and develop student worker team to cover campus events.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree required with preference for majors in related digital production fields.
Experience and Skills:
Two or more years experience in multimedia technologies including video, audio, textual, visual, graphical, and other electronic media.
Experience in higher education is strongly preferred.
Comfortable working with DSLR cameras, audio equipment, lighting, and editing tools such as Adobe Premiere, Lightroom, and Adobe Photoshop
Desire to constantly push the envelope of the possible within the guardrails of a brand
Ability to multitask with competing priorities under tight deadlines and to function effectively in a fast-paced, complex environment.
Equally comfortable editing video and photo, as behind the camera.
Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Ability to lift 25 lbs.

Work environment is split between office work when editing/meeting with students, and shooting on location.
Must be able to carry equipment around campus and be mobile enough to film and photograph live, fast-paced events.
