    Department Financial Aid Job Purpose

    Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid and Enrollment, this position is responsible for overseeing the administration and compliance of federal and state grant programs, including the Federal Pell Grant and Pennsylvania State Grant. This role ensures accurate and timely awarding and disbursement of financial aid in accordance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. Additionally, the position manages the Student Employment Program.

    Essential Duties

    • Act as liaison with Pennsylvania State Grant & Special Programs and other Pennsylvania agencies providing student educational assistance, and all other state and external entities
    • Responsible for staying current on legislative changes impacting the University and helping the administration to respond to pending legislation; identify regulatory changes and ensure timely updates to university processes
    • Oversee the administration and disbursement of Federal Pell Grants, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and accuracy in student accounts
    • Oversight of Student Employment Program, including maintenance of job descriptions, student job referrals and placement, and communication with supervisors, student Payroll Office
    • Review and award financial aid packages for designated cohort compliant with federal, state and institutional policies and guidelines
    • Prepare and present financial aid information to students, parents and applicants in person and group settings
    • Supervision of a financial aid counselor(s)

    Additional Skills Required

    • Maintain knowledge and proficiency with technological skills required for performance of general and program specific duties used for the administration of financial aid
    • Maintain knowledge and proficiency of federal, state and institutional aid programs, including compliance and regulations through participation in training seminars, webinars and attendance at conferences
    • Proficient user of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) proficiency
    • Knowledge and ability with large data base systems, e.g. Banner Sevis
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Must maintain highbest levels of accuracy and attention to detail
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
    • The ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
    • Knowledge of common office procedures including telephone etiquette
    • The ability to uphold human dignity and respect by recognizing each person's worth, valuing diverse perspectives, and treating others with kindness, fairness, and empathy
    • Must be able to respect, support and contribute to the University's Catholic and Jesuit mission

    Minimum Education Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree required

    Preferred Education Minimum Job Experience Requirements

    • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in financial aid administration or finance and accounting or related field
    • At least one (1) to two (2) years of experience supervising staff, student workers, or managing a team

    Preferred Qualifications Years of Experience 3 University Classification Professional FLSA Classification Exempt Schedule/Work Hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional hours as required. Full Time/Part Time Full-Time Annual Schedule 12
