Silver Lake Hospital of Newark, NJ is seeking to hire a full-time Assistant Director of Human Resources to join our team. This role supports a wide range of HR functions, including payroll administration, employee benefits, unemployment claims management, employee relations, workplace investigations, compliance, and HR operations.ABOUT SILVER LAKE HOSPITAL Silver Lake Hospital is a long-term acute care hospital with a reputation of providing patients with a place to heal before heading home. A long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) is an acute care specialty hospital that provides highly advanced and focused care for higher acuity patients who have not responded to short-term treatment in traditional general hospitals. The average length of stay in an LTACH is 25 days as compared to a 3-5 day average stay in a general hospital. Our safe and state of the art hospital is designed to admit and care for the most critically ill patients.POSITION SUMMARYThe Assistant Director of Human Resources is responsible for administering payroll and employee benefits, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, and serving as the primary point of contact for payroll and benefits inquiries. This role manages unemployment claims and coordinates responses to state agencies. The Assistant Director of Human Resources also handles employee relations matters by conducting confidential workplace investigations, resolving employee concerns, and partnering with leadership to promote a positive work environment. Additional responsibilities include supporting recruitment, onboarding, performance management, HRIS and personnel record maintenance, policy interpretation, compliance initiatives, reporting, audits, and other Human Resources projects to support the hospital's operational and strategic goals.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.Five (5) or more years of Human Resources experience in a healthcare setting.Experience with payroll processing and benefits administration.Experience managing unemployment claims and employee relations matters.Experience conducting workplace investigations and onboarding employees.Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, and unemployment regulations.Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.Sound judgment and ethical decision-makingAbility to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environmentAnalytical and critical thinking skillsHigh level of professionalism and discretionFull time employees are offered generous benefits including medical, dental, vision, a 401(k) plan, supplemental insurance, free life-long term disability insurance.
