Established in 1986, EOHSI's major objectives are to:
Advance understanding of the mechanisms by which environmental and occupational chemical exposures impact human health.
Identify and measure human environmental and occupational exposures to chemicals. Treat populations adversely affected by chemical exposures. Develop educational tools describing relative risks of chemical exposures. Contribute to public policies related to environmental and occupational chemical risks. Offer training programs for environmental health professionals.
The Institute serves as an unbiased source of expertise about environmental problems for communities, employers and governments in all areas of occupational and environmental health, toxicology and risk assessment. EOHSI members are active as advisors to international, national, state and local organizations on public health issues.

Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey has opening for a Assistant DIrector of Mental Health for the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute, located in Piscataway, NJ. This position supports clinical and scholarly activity as part of the Clinical Center at the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute. The incumbent's key role is also providing clinical and supervisory services to the outpatient population at EOHSI. This includes mental health assessments, cognitive screens, suicide assessment and safety planning, triaging patients with positive depression, PTSD, and other screens, providing short-term therapy, and facilitating groups that promote mental and physical health and well-being. The incumbent serves as the psychologist content area expert with proficiency in evidence-based interventions for comorbid medical and mental health conditions. The incumbent will also carry a small caseload of patients to provide mental health outpatient services to a clinical population of First Responders. The psychologist will also have the opportunity to supervise the psychological testing that is done on-site, including but not limited to Fitness for Duty assessments.
