Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

A healthcare facility in Brooklyn, NY, is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON).

this role is an educator / risk management focused position.

Duties

• Assist the Director of Nursing Services (DNS) with management responsibilities and quality of care oversight.

• Conduct weekly wound/skin rounds.

• Support compliance efforts and maintain clear communication across all nursing staff levels.

• Ensure all resident nursing and medical needs are met.

• Provide 24-hour on-call coverage.

• Coordinate and direct overall nursing service planning.

• Apply comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and clinical practice.

• Oversee the accurate and timely completion of medical records.

• Assist with interviewing, hiring, and orienting new nursing personnel.

• Manage the daily staffing process and infection control protocols.

• Maintain schedule flexibility to address unpredictable operational needs.

Requirements

• Active State Registered Nurse (RN) license.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in long-term care settings.

• 2 years of management experience preferred.

• 1 year of staff education experience preferred.

• Strong communication, basic leadership, and supervisory skills.

• Ability to work flexible hours.
