Role Overview 

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) will assist the Director of Nursing in the overall management and leadership of the nursing department. This role involves overseeing nursing staff, ensuring high-quality patient care, compliance with healthcare regulations, and fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. The ADON will play a key role in staff development, quality improvement initiatives, and the implementation of nursing policies and procedures.


Core Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and directing nursing services to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Supervise nursing staff, including screening, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive patient care plans.
  • Monitor patient outcomes and lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance care delivery.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor for nursing staff, providing guidance and support in clinical practice.
  • Assist in managing nursing operations, including staffing, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
  • Monitoring and implementation of Infection Control policies and procedures. 
  • Educating the staff on all policies and procedures, new directives, and annual trainings including department specific training. 
  • Participation in all hospital and staff meetings as required. 
  • Address patient and family concerns and complaints in a professional manner.
  • Stay updated on current trends and advancements in nursing practices and healthcare regulations.
     


Qualifications Required

  • Active Registered Nurse license in Tennessee
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program 
  • CPR and Handle with Care instructor or ability to obtain certification within the first 90 days. 
  • Two years of psychiatric clinical experience with children and adolescents, nursing management, and/or supervision experience 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to patient-centered care


Preferred

  • Experience in behavioral health or pediatric nursing
  • Background in inpatient psychiatric care
  • Preferred BSN
