Job Details

The Assistant Director of Nursing will work closely with the Director of Nursing to oversee day-to-day nursing operations, support clinical staff, maintain regulatory compliance, and promote a positive environment for both residents and employees.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with the overall management of nursing services and daily clinical operations
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other members of the nursing team
  • Help ensure residents receive appropriate, timely, and high-quality nursing care
  • Monitor resident care plans, clinical documentation, and changes in condition
  • Support staffing, scheduling, and appropriate nursing coverage
  • Participate in the hiring, orientation, training, and development of nursing staff
  • Promote adherence to facility policies and federal and state long-term care regulations
  • Assist with quality assurance, performance improvement, infection prevention, and resident safety initiatives
  • Participate in surveys, audits, and regulatory compliance activities
  • Collaborate with physicians, providers, therapy, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
  • Communicate effectively with residents and families regarding care needs and concerns
  • Assist with investigating and resolving clinical or resident-care issues
  • Serve as a clinical resource and provide hands-on leadership when needed
  • Assume additional nursing leadership responsibilities in the Director of Nursing's absence

Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa or ability to obtain
  • Previous nursing experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or a similar setting
  • Previous supervisory or nursing leadership experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of clinical standards, resident care, and long-term care regulations
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Ability to effectively support and develop nursing staff
  • Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving abilities
