Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Director of Pharmacy - Brooklyn.

In this role, the successful candidate The Assistant Director of Pharmacy for Clinical Services is responsible for the oversight and coordination of clinical activities and drug information services of the Department of Pharmacy. In addition to managing clinical pharmacists, the Assistant Director for Clinical Services is responsible for the scheduling, coordination development and implementation of projects, policies and procedures presented to medical staff committees and subcommittees including Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Medication Use Committee, Antibiotic Subcommittee.

Job Responsibilities:

Principal Responsibilities:

1. Demonstrates knowledge of the organizations Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance duties.

2. Supervises the clinical activities of staff and clinical pharmacists.

3. Evaluates performance, conducts annual performance and competency assessments, determines disciplinary actions and performs other human resource related actions as needed.

4. Evaluates newly approved medications and new drug regimens.

5. Evaluates clinical literature for new trends in medication therapies and evolving standards of care.

6. Serves as a resource to pharmacists, medical and nursing staff esp. as related to drug information

7. Participates, conducts and documents meetings of the Medical staff and/or Pharmacy staff as assigned.

8. Participates in providing experiential training for Pharmacy Residents and Pharmacy Students.

9. Keeps informed of all local, state and federal laws covering the storage, handling and dispensing of drugs and for interpreting medication orders to determine that it meets all legal requirements

10. Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations and/or develops policies, procedures and delineates necessary measures to achieve same.

11. Keeps informed of the action, side effects and proper usage of all new drugs as they are made commercially available.

12. Maintains awareness of contemporary trends in the profession through the professional literature and regular attendance at professional organization meetings and/or seminars

13. Participates collegially in the development of new programs, services, practices of the department

14. Participates and assists in the management and administration of all areas of the department as needed including development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures and by periodically taking call.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • To qualify you must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy
  • New York State Pharmacist Licensure
  • PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Training
  • PGY2 pharmacy residency training or equivalent salaried professorship at a school of pharmacy
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a progressive pharmaceutical management position (PGY1 and
  • PGY 2 Residency Training experience is inclusive of experience required)
  • Board certification in Pharmacotherapy or other specialty is required within 18 months of hire
  • Self motivation, good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Leadership qualities
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel
