Job Summary
Responsible to the Associate Director for Recruitment, the Assistant Director for Recruitment serves as a key representative of East Tennessee State University to prospective freshman, transfer, returning, and dual enrollment students. This position provides leadership and supervision to three admissions counselors, including training, coaching, and strategic oversight of assigned recruitment territories. The role supports the development and execution of recruitment strategies, travel planning, outreach initiatives, and communication efforts designed to meet enrollment goals.
In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the Assistant Director manages an assigned recruitment territory and coordinates high school and community college visitation programs, presentations, and outreach events. The position regularly engages with counselors, advisors, administrators, students, and families to promote ETSU and guide prospective students through the admissions process.
This role also serves as a front-line student service provider through in-office admissions counseling, recruitment travel, and ongoing communication with prospective students. In addition, the position oversees the undergraduate residency classification change process, including advising students, reviewing documentation, adjudicating cases, and maintaining accurate records of decisions.
