    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Assistant Director of Residence Life assists the Director of Residence Life in providing leadership of the residence life program for over 2,200 resident students and non-resident students in a manner that complements the mission of Benedictine College and as a team member of the Student Life Office. Assists the Director in the formation of students and helps set the tone for much of the student experience outside the classroom. This position is the primary administrator of student conduct at the college and independently evaluates student conduct cases, determines appropriate sanctions, investigates or oversees investigations, resolves student conduct matters, and enforces sanctions in a manner consistent with College policies.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Lead the administration of all student conduct cases to ensure the effective application of student handbook policies and fundamental fairness to students engaged in the student conduct process.
    • Serve as a primary adjudicator for documented incidents of policy violations and referrals to the office of student conduct, independently evaluate all evidence in cases and make the appropriate disciplinary decisions and enforce sanctions, including the sanctions of suspension or dismissal.
    • Manage the student conduct database (Maxient), from report through resolution, including intake, documentation, communication, case management, user administration, and record maintenance.
    • Provide oversight of student conduct cases including case management support and training for Residence Life staff.
    • Establish, implement, and oversee a student conduct board, including recruitment, training, supervision, and ongoing development of board members.
    • Support the administration of the Title IX policy, including collecting and referring reports and serving in the roles of Title IX investigator and advisor.
    • Collaborates with the Vice Provost of Student Affairs, Director of Residence Life and the Director of security to ensure compliance with Clery, Title IX, and VAWA requirements.
    • Facilitate the ongoing review, revision, and implementation of the Student Code of Conduct.
    • Assist the Director of Residence Life with leadership, vision, administration for Student Housing and residential life programs, staff and facilities, in collaboration with other campus offices and departments.
    • Assist in ensuring that safety and security procedures are established and maintained.
    • Assist the Director of Residence Life in setting the tone for the implementation of a residential environment that reflects our Catholic beliefs and culture, is positive and engaging, and challenges students' growth as young adults.
    • Assist with the hiring, training, and supervising residential life staff and operations.
    • Lead the summer housing programming, including housing assignment management, and the hiring, training, and supervision of the Resident Director and Resident Assistants.
    • Assist in developing and providing programs and services which address emerging student concerns and needs.
    • Provide on-call consultation and/or response for emergency situations.
    • Assist in responding to questions, concerns, requests and complaints from residents, parents, and the college community.

    Ability to relate effectively with students, parents, faculty and staff

    Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills as well as proven administrative and organizational skills

    Computer skills including word processing, e-mail and database software

    Education

    Strong understanding of and ability to weave a formational approach into various types of initiatives and an ability to foster a balanced Catholic culture.

    Master's degree preferred in relevant field

    Experience

    Two to three years related experience working in a related area on a college campus.

    Residence Life and/or Student Life experience preferred

    Demonstrated experience in formation and the ability to foster a balanced Catholic culture.
