Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Respiratory Therapy (AD-RT) will assist the Director in the administrative and oversight of the operational functions of the Respiratory Department which may include communications, scheduling to ensure adequate staffing, staff orientation, performance evaluation completion, discipline management, etc. AD-RT will be assigned special projects and will initiate performance improvement projects that may result in the betterment of the Respiratory Therapy Department as a whole. The AD-RT will act as Director in the absence of the Director. The AD-RT will perform special functions as requested by the Director, complete staff level duties when needed and other related assignments. The AD-RT is required to report back to work during any emergency situation, this includes if needed during inclement weather, mass casualty, internal disaster, etc. The AD-RT will complete other duties as assigned.
Education:
  • Associates Degree (AS) in Respiratory Therapy required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Respiratory Therapy preferred.
Experience:
  • A minimum of three years’ acute hospital care experience required.
  • A minimum of two years’ respiratory care supervisory experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
  • Current License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of South Carolina required.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Association for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
  • Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
Special Skills:
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with nursing colleagues, physicians, department heads, and member of executive leadership required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Explorer and PowerPoint required.
  • Exemplary core customer service skills strongly required.
  • Exemplary core customer skills strongly required.
  • Knowledge of elementary principles of management preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement in emergency situations.
