The mission of the Department of Undergraduate Admissions is to achieve an optimal annual enrollment of new first-year and transfer undergraduate students.

Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Visitor Experience and Communications provides strategic leadership for undergraduate admission campus visitation programs and social media engagement that support enrollment goals. Working under the general supervision of the Associate Dean of Admission, the Assistant Director exercises independent judgment in creating exceptional campus visit experiences and social media content that help prospective students and their families envision themselves as members of the university community.

Working collaboratively across the institution, the Assistant Director develops and implements innovative visitor experiences, manages admissions event operations, supervises a team of student ambassadors, executes visit-related communications, oversees social media content creation, and leverages data to continuously improve recruitment effectiveness. This position serves as a key member of the admissions team, ensuring that all interactions prospective students have while visiting us on campus and on social media reflect the university's commitment to student success, access, and inclusion.

Supervision Received: Associate Dean of Admission

Supervision Provided: 20 - 30 student ambassadors

This position is an exempt, APA unit position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.

Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, some nights, and weekends. This position is located on campus in Bridgewater, MA. This position is eligible for hybrid work schedule in accordance with BSU's remote work policy.

Essential Duties

Campus Visit Strategy & Visitor Experience

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for undergraduate campus visitation that supports new student recruitment and enrollment objectives.
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and assessment of daily campus tours, information sessions, group visits, virtual programming, and specialty visit experiences.
  • Serve as host and information session presenter for prospective students, families, school counselors, community organizations, and other campus guests.
  • Collaborate with academic departments, Student Affairs, Athletics, Housing, Financial Aid, Dining Services, and other campus partners to deliver engaging visit experiences.
  • Continuously evaluate the visitor experience and revise program procedures to enhance the experience and ensure programs are welcoming, informative, personalized, and reflective of the university's mission and values.

Student Ambassador Program

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and mentor a diverse team of student ambassadors who represent the university through campus tours, admissions events, and social media engagement.
  • Develop and document training programs, performance standards, and professional development opportunities for student employees.
  • Administer staffing assignments to ensure appropriate coverage for campus visits, admissions events, and digital engagement initiatives.
  • Monitor student employee performance and ensure consistent delivery of accurate information and high-quality customer service.
  • Foster a positive team culture focused on professionalism, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Admissions Events

  • Manage all undergraduate admission event logistics, scheduling, staffing, securing of space, CRM communications, online registration, and post-event assessment.
  • Work with the Dean of Admission to administer the operational planning and implementation of major recruitment events, including Open Houses, Accepted Student programs, school counselor events, and other enrollment initiatives.
  • Develop administrative processes that improve efficiency while maintaining a high-quality visitor experience.

Communications & Digital Engagement

  • Implement timely, personalized, and informative communications to prospective students and their families throughout the visit process using the university's CRM.
  • Create, maintain, and implement an annual content calendar for admissions social media channels (i.e., Instagram, ZeeMee, TikTok, etc.), ensuring content aligns with the university's persona, enrollment goals, and the student experience.
  • Collaborate with student ambassadors, admissions staff, and campus partners to develop authentic digital content across emerging communication platforms.

Assessment, Analytics & Continuous Improvement

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret CRM data, event participation trends, visitor satisfaction survey feedback, and enrollment outcomes to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Monitor key performance indicators including visit attendance, conversion rates, visitor satisfaction, staffing efficiency, and enrollment impact.
  • Recommend and implement operational improvements based on assessment findings and industry best practices.

Admissions Office Leadership

  • Serve as Counselor-on-Duty as needed, responding professionally to inquiries from prospective students, families, counselors, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Assist in developing and managing department budgets related to visitation programs and student staffing.
  • Contribute to admissions planning initiatives and departmental projects.
  • Represent the Office of Undergraduate Admissions on institutional committees and working groups as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Three years of progressively responsible professional experience in higher education, event management, communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and coordinating complex events or programs.
  • Experience supervising, training, evaluating, or mentoring student employees or professional staff.
  • Experience utilizing customer relationship management systems, database applications, or comparable technology platforms.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service while fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment for students and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and designated University holidays as operational needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Professional experience in undergraduate admissions.
  • Experience supervising student ambassador or student leadership programs.
  • Experience using Element451 or a comparable enrollment CRM.
  • Experience developing social media strategy.
  • Knowledge of enrollment marketing and prospective student engagement.
  • Experience analyzing data to assess program effectiveness and improve enrollment outcomes.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
